Nhon My commune (An Giang) runs its third community-based larval control campaign of 2026, launching on 12 October in Long Thanh 1 hamlet after 188 dengue cases this year

The Nhon My commune website (An Giang province) reported that on the afternoon of 7 October 2026 the commune People’s Committee held a meeting to launch the third community-based larval control campaign of 2026 against dengue. Since the start of the year the commune has recorded 188 cases in 51 outbreaks, with no deaths.

Main points

• Long Thanh 1 hamlet alone has had 5 cases and 2 outbreaks, including 1 severe case. The commune health station reported on the situation, assessed risk factors and presented the campaign plan.
• The campaign launches on 12 October 2026 in Long Thanh 1 hamlet, covering 712 households and 19 self-management groups, split into 13 teams for larval checks and home visits.
• Targets: 90% of households understand how to prevent dengue; 90% of households in the campaign area are checked and advised on prevention; 90% of water containers in and around homes are checked and fully treated for larvae.
• Roles: the commune health station advises, gives technical training and monitors entomological indices before and after the campaign; the commune police, military unit and schools maintain order and inform pupils and teachers. Campaign slogan: “No larvae, no dengue”.

The plan sets measurable targets and measures entomological indices before and after the campaign to judge results, rather than only counting campaign days. Members who support local authorities can help with larval survey techniques, water container treatment and household communication, following the health station’s guidance.
