Official Letter No. 4247/UBND-KGVX of 18 August 2026 of the Hanoi People’s Committee, signed by Vice Chairwoman Vu Thu Ha, on stronger dengue prevention in the city. It cites Ministry of Health figures: in the first seven months of 2026 the country recorded more than 70,000 cases and 9 deaths, 1.3 times as many cases as in the same period of 2025.
Main points
- Ward and commune People’s Committees: chairs are fully responsible to the City People’s Committee; they must secure staff, funding, insecticides, sprayers and equipment on the “four on-the-spot” principle, and investigate, zone and fully treat cases and outbreak sites as soon as they are found.
- A peak dengue-control month from 15 August to 15 September 2026, with weekly clean-up and larval-control campaigns; monthly clean-up and larval control continue through the September–November 2026 peak; insecticide spraying at outbreak sites and high-risk areas is done as indicated and guided by the health sector.
- Schools hold weekly clean-ups and larval control and work with local health services on spraying when indicated. Project owners and contractors keep construction sites and workers’ living areas clean. Ward and commune police support work at complex outbreak sites and where spraying is hard to carry out.
- More inspections at outbreak sites, high-risk areas, construction sites, production and business premises, restaurants and crowded places; violations are handled strictly under the law.
VPMA’s note
An instruction of the Hanoi People’s Committee. Members working in Hanoi should contact health stations and ward or commune People’s Committees when taking part in spraying and outbreak treatment, and follow the health sector’s technical instructions.
