The vector-control prequalification (PQT/VCP) bulletin of 21 July 2026 said that, as of June 2026, 85 sources covering 37 active ingredients were on the list of sources meeting WHO specifications. From 30 May 2026, new product dossiers and variation dossiers must be filed through the ePQS portal.
Main points
- On 5 June 2026 WHO opened a call for experts for the specification advisory group on public-health pesticide products. The deadline was 1 October 2026.
- At the 2026 JMPS meeting, 33 dossiers were assessed: 14 to set a new active-ingredient specification or to revise one under the old procedure, and 19 to extend a specification, including an impurity review.
- From March 2026 WHO sent agreement letters to 48 manufacturers of active ingredients to standardise assessment. Only a source that has signed and returned the letter is treated as an accepted source for formulating a prequalified product. By June 2026 the list had 85 sources across 37 active ingredients.
- From 30 May 2026 every new product dossier and every variation dossier must be filed through ePQS. The bulletin records 1 newly prequalified product in 2026, and 10 dossiers cancelled or withdrawn. It does not give instructions for mixing products in the field.
VPMA’s note
A business that imports or formulates products should keep “the active-ingredient source is on a WHO list” separate from “the product has been authorised for sale by a Vietnamese authority”. One does not replace the other.
