Pest Magazine reported on 16 September 2026 that the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) spoke with MPs and chemical-industry representatives at a Chemical Business Association reception in the Palace of Westminster.

Main points

  • BPCA chief executive Rosina Robson attended a reception chaired by MP Julia Buckley (Shrewsbury), marking more than 100 years of the Chemical Business Association representing the chemical supply chain. Politicians, associations and businesses were present.
  • The discussion covered UK REACH, the future UK–EU relationship, and continued access to chemical products that still work. Pest Magazine noted that, for pest management, chemical rules affect which professional products can be used, their price, and a technician’s toolkit.
  • BPCA works with the Chemical Business Association and others in the Alliance for Chemical Associations. They ask for a UK chemical regime that is workable, avoids duplication and unnecessary cost, and still keeps a high standard. The group also spoke about a proposed sanitary and phytosanitary agreement between the UK and the EU.
  • Ms Robson said the sector has a real interest in decisions on chemical regulation. Members need a system that protects people and the environment and still leaves practitioners with tools to protect public health. The reception also heard Re-industrialisation Minister Blair McDougall and Chemical Business Association chief executive Tim Doggett.

VPMA’s note

How a national association takes the sector into a discussion of chemical rules is something VPMA can watch. It is not an Association event. This item does not infer any effect on dossiers in Vietnam.
