The Hindu: Chennai tests every fever case, 4,592 dengue cases this year, drone larvicide spraying

The Hindu reported on 5 October 2026 that the Tamil Nadu Health Department (India) has directed that every fever case in Chennai be tested. The city has carried out 16,254 tests and recorded 4,592 dengue cases this year, 1,293 of them in September; no deaths have been reported.

  • ₹100 crore has been allocated for monsoon precautions; fines totalling ₹7.2 lakh were imposed in the past month for failing to remove garbage.
