Needs the Association’s confirmation. The 2 October 2026 issue of BugBytes, the newsletter of the Georgia Pest Control Association (GPCA, US), welcomes new members, opens award nominations, invites members to an online orientation and calls for two community activities: a coat drive for homeless veterans and a “Week of Service” from 2 to 7 November 2026.

Main points

  • Coat drive: according to the poster in the newsletter, for the past seven years GPCA has worked with the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program and Arrow Exterminators on an annual coat drive and has collected more than 35,000 coats. The 2026 drive runs from 1 September to 15 November 2026 and accepts gently used coats for all seasons and sizes, including children’s sizes, dropped off at Arrow Exterminators service centres. Last year nearly 10,000 coats were collected; the goal for 2026 is 12,000.
  • Week of Service: GPCA challenges every member to do a service project during the week of 2–7 November 2026, take a picture and post it on Facebook tagging GPCA, or send it to the association.
  • Member activities: a 30-minute online orientation about GPCA is held on the third Friday of every month (next session 16 October 2026, 8:30–9:00); award and Hall of Fame nominations are open until 1 December 2026; the winter conference moves to a new venue, The Classic Center (Athens, Georgia), with last year’s prices for members who register before 1 November 2026.
  • Needs the Association’s confirmation. Two ideas VPMA could consider are a short monthly online orientation for new members and a week in which members do volunteer work together and share photos on the Association’s page; any use needs the Association’s confirmation.
